Rocket Crew news: versions 0.40 to 0.49

What each version of the game brought, the newest first.

Version 0.49.6: Dark by default

  • The interface starts in dark mode; you can still switch to light from the menu.
  • The visits-today sign over the stands is now in your language.

Version 0.49.5: What each level brings

  • The details («ⓘ») of every part and element now list, level by level, what it improves or unlocks.

Version 0.49.4: Back to the rocket

  • On the «Prototype» tab, «Overview» or a touch on an empty spot of the scene takes the view back to the rocket.

Version 0.49.3: More scene on the phone

  • The sheet of «Launch» is more compact: the challenge fits in three lines, the flights left go beside their button and the top level is said in the title, so the base gets more of the screen.

Version 0.49.2: The prototype in sight

  • Opening the «Prototype» tab takes the view to the prototype on its launch pad; the other tabs show the rocket, as before.

Version 0.49.1: Boom, or off to orbit

  • During a test flight the card shows your total points instead of the altitude, which the altimeter at the side already shows.
  • A failed trial now blows the rocket up in sight: a fireball, smoke, sparks and pieces of the hull flying.
  • Pass every phase and the camera stops following the rocket and watches it leave, faster and faster, mission accomplished.

Version 0.49.0: Music, volumes and new sounds

  • Your base now has music: a calm piece that is never quite the same, darker at night, and that goes quiet during flights and take-offs.
  • Three volumes in Profile → Settings: effects, ambience and music, each from 0 to 100%.
  • The laboratory sounds as rare as what it finds: a ping for a common one, a drum roll for an epic, and a choir for a legendary.
  • Trophies, missions and the daily chest have sounds of their own, and a finished work sounds higher the higher its level.

Version 0.48.5: Easier to find in search engines

  • The news now come in pages of ten versions each, with links between them; an old link to a version takes you to its page.
  • Each guide says the day it last changed, instead of one day for all of them.
  • An address with nothing behind it now says so to search engines too, and a mistyped one is fixed in a single step.

Version 0.48.4: No zoom when folding the card

  • On the phone, folding the card of the base you are visiting no longer zooms the scene: the base stays framed as it was.

Version 0.48.3: More room on the phone

  • When you visit a base on the phone, its card is tighter: the commander and trophies share a row, the five figures fit in one, and you can fold the card down with a button to see the whole base.
  • The test flight sheet shows only what matters on the phone, the daily challenge and the flight; the rest is behind an info button.
  • The trial mode notice takes a single thin line on the phone.

Version 0.48.2: The rocket in sight, stage by stage

  • During the trials a camera flies above the rocket and looks down on it, with the base behind: the rocket is always in sight, and with each phase passed one of its boosters comes off and falls away.
  • The first trial no longer starts on the pad: the rocket takes off and is already climbing while the phase is announced.
  • On the phone the flight screen is tidier: the phase, altitude and coins share one thin card, the texts are smaller and the rocket has more room.
  • Fixed trials that got stuck: windows like the daily reward no longer open over a flight while its trial is running.

Version 0.48.1: A flight that fits and sounds real

  • On the phone, the test flight fits on the screen: the altitude and coins take one low row, the trials take the room that is left and the buttons to go on or leave are always in sight.
  • The engine roars for the whole test flight, with the crackle of the exhaust, and sounds thinner the higher the rocket climbs; the lift-off has its valves, its ignition and the clamps letting go.
  • Every trial has its sounds: the countdown beeps, the stage bolts firing, the coolant hissing, the radio static, the fuel pouring, the thrusters and the rocks.
  • Every button of the game clicks when pressed.

Version 0.48.0: Prizes in sight, lights at night

  • The daily challenge shows its prizes: 300, 200 and 100 coins for the top 3, on its card and at the top of its ranking, with the prize of each podium place.
  • When a challenge you flew is over, «While you were away» tells you your place, out of how many pilots, and the prize you won or why there was none.
  • At night the visitors’ stands are lit, and so are the sign with the name of your rocket and the visit counter.

Version 0.47.8: A shorter notice

  • The yellow trial banner now says «Trial mode: lost when you close the tab», and its parts versions are shorter too.

Version 0.47.7: Visit from the trial

  • In trial mode, the bases of the real ranking have their Visit button again, and they open as any visitor would see them.

Version 0.47.6: A real ranking in the trial

  • In trial mode the ranking and the daily challenge board now show the real pilots, and your try is placed among them.

Version 0.47.5: Touch the prototype

  • You can now tap the parts of the prototype in the scene to open their sheet. The trial banner says «Save progress» and its text is black, so it reads better.

Version 0.47.4: The guide, closer

  • On a computer, the guide’s card on the route screen now sits next to the button it points at, and it is a little wider on large screens.

Version 0.47.3: A clearer launch sheet

  • The sheet of «Launch» has two blocks: today’s challenge (with its own «Play the challenge» button) and practice flights, and it shows its real level and what the next one adds. The first-steps guide is shorter.

Version 0.47.2: Save your prototype

  • In the trial, until the first flight, the banner and the save window talk about your prototype: its parts, what you keep (its daily flights, your place in the daily challenge) and a question after its first flight.

Version 0.47.1: Launch

  • The test pad is now called «Launch», with a new description that tells what it is for: your prototype’s flights and the daily challenge. The guides and tips say it too.

Version 0.47.0: Your record

  • The challenge and your best score are now in the sheet of the test pad, and the Fly button there is only on until you have played today’s challenge. The result tells you if you beat your record, and the ranking tab shows your best day.

Version 0.46.9: The challenge in sight

  • On the «Prototype» tab, a strip shows today’s challenge, who leads among your friends and crew, and your place. The ranking tab has «Daily challenge» too, and «Friends» now also includes the players who work on your base.

Version 0.46.8: Up the small tower

  • The workers now come right up to the test pad: the one on the engine works beside the prototype, and whoever works on the tank or the fuselage climbs its small tower and crosses a plank to the rocket.

Version 0.46.7: A painted prototype

  • The parts of the prototype can be painted from their sheet, and try on colours in the scene. They share the paint of the rocket: what you paint on one, the other wears.

Version 0.46.6: See the next level

  • The sheet of each part of the prototype has the «See level» button too: the scene draws the prototype with that part one level up.

Version 0.46.5: Sheets for the prototype

  • The parts of the prototype now open their sheet when you click them, like the rocket’s: its levels, what the next one costs and takes, and the button to pay for it. The scene frames the test pad.

Version 0.46.4: A snug panel

  • The upgrades panel is as wide as its cards, which are now centred, and each tab’s text sits under its tabs.

Version 0.46.3: Even cards

  • The cards are the same size in every tab, and the dots of the levels no longer play their animation when you go from «Prototype» to «Rocket».

Version 0.46.2: Coins first

  • In «Base», the solar panels and the fuel come first, and the laboratory is now in «Extras».

Version 0.46.1: Tidier tabs

  • The test pad is now in «Prototype», next to the parts of the rocket it launches, and the stands are in «Extras».

Version 0.46.0: A flight that never stops

  • The way to space looks better: each layer fades once you leave it below, the aurora is made of soft curtains that ripple, and in space a satellite crosses and debris tumbles past.
  • The rocket never stands still: streaks of speed pass it the whole flight, faster as it climbs, and it sways a little between trials too.
  • You have a minute to read and practise each trial: the Ready! button counts it down, and when it runs out the trial starts by itself.

Version 0.45.0: The prototype comes first

  • New players start with a prototype: a tab of its own (Prototype, Rocket, Base and Extras) and the guide builds it with you, part by part: engine, tank and fuselage.
  • You see it grow on the test pad: each part changes at each of its three levels, the part being built glows as a frame of what it will be, and it wears the first colour you pick.
  • With its three parts, its first flight: free, three trials and it cannot fail. After it, the real rocket opens, the one that will reach the Moon.
  • The prototype is the rocket of the test flights and of the daily challenge: it flies without a test pad (3 flights a day, 3 more for each level of the pad) and each of its levels adds 1 % to your score.

Version 0.44.0: Three new trials, and time to learn them

  • Three new trials, for nine in all: stage separation, red-hot engine, falling objects, gust of wind, ignition sequence, radio window, refuelling, asteroid field and ignition reflexes. Each flight has five of them.
  • Before each trial you are told how it is played, with no clock running, and you can practise it as often as you like. It starts when you press Ready!, after a 3-second countdown.
  • How high you get in each phase depends on how well you do its trial: only a perfect trial reaches the top of the layer.

Version 0.43.1: Bigger challenge prizes

  • The top 3 of the daily challenge now win 300, 200 and 100 coins. There are prizes when at least 5 pilots finish the challenge that day.

Version 0.43.0: Prizes for the daily challenge

  • The daily challenge starts again every day, and the top 3 of each day win 150, 100 and 50 coins, besides the “Challenge podium” trophy. You get them the next time you come in.

Version 0.42.0: The daily challenge

  • Every day there is a challenge: a test flight with the same five trials for everybody, free and apart from your flights. One try a day: what you do is what counts.
  • Each challenge has its ranking, of everybody and of your friends. The top 3 of the day win the new “Challenge podium” trophy.
  • Share your result in squares, one per phase, and compare it with your friends.

Version 0.41.0: Test flights with trials

  • The test flight is no longer luck: it climbs through five phases, and in each one there is a surprise skill trial of a few seconds. Six trials: stage separation, red-hot engine, falling objects, gust of wind, ignition sequence and radio window.
  • Your score is compared with every pilot of the last 7 days: beat enough of them to pass the phase. Between phases you choose: open the parachute and cash in, or go on. Fail a phase and the emergency parachute brings back half. Pass all five and you reach orbit: 130 coins.
  • The altimeter shows where the pilots who flew before you got to, and at the end how many of them you beat.

Version 0.40.0: Paint your helicopter

  • The helicopter of the helipad can be painted with your colours: its cabin, its tail and its rotors, from the sheet of the helipad. On the Moon, the lander wears the same paint.
