🛰️ The trip to the Moon step by step: scheduling, take-off and landing
When everything on your base is at the maximum, you can schedule the trip to the Moon. It is not an instant button: it is a scheduled, public event that your visitors see. Here is the whole route. To know what you need first, see how to reach the Moon.
1. Scheduling the take-off
- You choose the day and hour, with at least 24 hours of margin and at most 30 days. The hour is chosen on your clock and stored in UTC.
- Preparing the take-off costs 5,000 coins. They are paid when you schedule it and are not refunded.
- It cannot be cancelled or changed once chosen, and there can only be one trip scheduled or under way at a time.
2. Choosing who travels
You choose up to 3 workers from your base, who must be free: not on a work, not researching and not at a post. You can go yourself. From the moment you schedule the trip they are busy with it and wear a space suit. At least one worker has to stay behind on the base you leave.
3. The countdown
There is a counter to the take-off that anyone who visits your page sees, and everyone sees it at the same second, because it is counted with the server’s clock. About 50 seconds before, the travellers are seen going up the tower. Later the rest of the workers leave their posts and gather in a circle around the rocket, looking at it, and a 10-second countdown begins with a beep every second.
4. The take-off
The rocket ignites and rises with its flame and smoke. The camera goes through three shots: on board, next to the nose looking at the sky; a visitor’s view from the ground, watching it disappear into the sky leaving its trail; and finally, on board looking down at the base it leaves behind. Each shot sounds as it would from there: the roar at the pad, muffled inside the cabin, distant from the ground. The animation cannot be watched again: you have to be there live (you can skip it). Watching a take-off live counts for the Witness trophy (trophies).
5. The trip
It lasts one day from take-off and is told in four fixed scenes, one every 6 hours: leaving the planet, deep space, heading for the destination and approach. In the last 10 seconds there is a fifth: the landing, with the cabin of your rocket slowing down with its engine to the pad. While the trip lasts, visitors only see those scenes. You can follow it from the route or go back to your base on the Earth, which is left with an empty pad. The trip cannot be sped up, not even with ads.
6. The arrival
When the day is up, the rocket lands: the Moon is reached, the workers who travelled stay there working, and your base on the new planet opens. You get a notice on take-off and another on landing if you have turned on phone notifications (notifications). What follows is in the Moon base.
💡 Choose an hour when you can be there to watch the take-off: it does not repeat. And tell your friends and workers, who will watch it with you.
