🧪 Test flights: odds, prizes and when to open the parachute
A test flight is the one game of chance in Rocket Crew. You launch a test rocket, it climbs faster and faster, and you decide when to open the parachute. The higher you let it go, the more it pays; if it blows up first, you get nothing.
What you need
- The test pad, one of the extras of the base. It asks for: Base lv. 6. Its first level costs 60 coins.
- 50 coins for each flight.
- 3 flights a day for each level of the test pad, up to 9 a day.
What it pays
Opening the parachute pays 5 coins per kilometre. At 10 km you get back what the flight cost; below that you lose. If the rocket reaches space, at 100 km, it comes back by itself with the top prize: 500 coins. The climb to space takes 20 seconds.
The odds
| Altitude | You get | Chance of getting there |
|---|---|---|
| 5 km | 25 | 90 % |
| 10 km | 50 | 80 % |
| 20 km | 100 | 40 % |
| 50 km | 250 | 16 % |
| 100 km | 500 | 8 % |
From 10 km up, twice as high is half as likely. That makes opening early or late worth the same on average: about 40 coins back for every 50. There is no trick altitude. What you choose is how you like to lose: a little, often, or everything, now and then, with a big prize in between.
- Each level of your rocket’s engine above the first adds 1 % to those chances.
- Where the rocket blows up is decided by the server at take-off, and nobody knows it until it happens.
- If you close the page mid-flight, the flight ends by itself: it blows up where it was going to, or it reaches space.
💡 Test flights take coins out of the game on average. Fly for the fun of it, with coins you were not going to spend on an upgrade. To grow, visits and workers are what work.
What you see
The camera rides on the test rocket and films your base falling away below, through the layers of the atmosphere: clouds, a thinning blue, stars and meteors, and the black of space. The altitude and the coins you would get are always on screen.
